Writing and illustration for children’s publishing



Born in 1955, brought up in Coventry and now living in Shropshire (England), I originally qualified and worked as an Architect before retraining as an illustrator.

2005 I was joint winner of the Macmillan Student Prize for Children’s Illustration (2005) with an unpublished work ‘Alice and the Lost Dog’.

2005 - 2016 I founded, and was Managing Director of Pictures to Share Community Interest Company, a social enterprise developing and publishing illustrated books for people with dementia www.picturestoshare.co.uk

2006 - 2011 I illustrated six children’s books for Frances Lincoln Ltd.

2011 Obtained an MA in Illustration for Children's Publishing from Glyndwr University.

2012 Taught a week’s summer residential course in Illustrating Children’s Books at Reaseheath college, Nantwich, Cheshire.

2013 Illustrated ‘Star Gazing’ a poetry book for Harper Collins Publishers.

2014 Started writing story and developing illustrations for 'Peter in Peril’ a new Graphic novel for children.

2015 Ran a day illustration workshop for primary school children based on an Alphabet of Citizenship.

2015 Started writing story and developing illustrations for ‘The Creature’ a children’s picture book.

2016 September 2016 'Peter in Peril’ published by Otter-Barry books.

2016 December 2016 I retired from Pictures to Share C.I.C.

2017 'The Creature' children's picture book published by Otter-Barry Books Autumn 2017.

2018 Working on Me and Mrs Moon for publication in 2019, as well as amendments and new cover for paperback version of Peter in peril due out in 2019.

2019 Very pleased to see Peter in peril published in paperback in the UK, and also a translated version published in Germany. Doing a number of primary school workshops around Peter in peril. Working on new book.
